Indian furniture production is worth about 1.7 billion and 85 per cent of it is unorganised. But the trend is changing fast as more and more people going for branded furniture.

The Gautier range of French furniture has rapidly become popular all over for its great styling and its strong accent on comfort and practicality. The leather upholstered sofa sets can cost you anywhere between Rs 53,000 to Rs 65,000. You can buy Gautier8217;s dining room sets in rubber wood finish from Rs 14,000 to Rs 35,000.

The K K Birla group also manufacturers a second range of furniture called Zuari which provides contemporary European designs, mostly along straight lines, somewhat like Gautier but at a lesser cost.

Durian is also offering a new generation range in home furniture and exclusive lifestyle products in wood, stainless steel, chrome and wrought iron. Durian gets best furniture styles from all over the world in semi knock down condition and can be fitted at the client8217;s premises instantly. Durian offers products at varying prices, ranging from Rs 14,000 to Rs 3 lakh in every segment. One can get excellent sofa sets from Malaysia priced at Rs 20,000. Though there are dining tables ranging from Rs 12,500 to Rs 52,000, the demand is for pieces at the lower end. Fire-proof lockers are another big draw. The price ranges from Rs 6,000 to Rs 31,000. Also available are fire-proof filing cabinets priced at Rs 65,000. For this marriage season, Durian is offering a 21-piece furniture set under Kanyadan package for Rs 99,190. Finished in natural wood colour, the set includes wrought iron bed with side tables, six seater wooden topped wrought iron dining table, TV unit, curio cabinet, easy chair with foot rest, sofa set with centre table, key box, console and mirror. One can even change a piece on the basis of MRP.

Besides these new brands, home furnishing stores like Arcus are also providing excellent options. Besides these ready to assemble furniture, one can even go for higher-end fully assembled imported furniture like US brand Lane, Swiss brand Arredoclassic and Swedish range of Ikea. However their prices usually start in six figures.
