A ride into the outer space can now be accomplished at a cost of 2,00,000 or approximately Rs 80 lakh.

Virgin Galactic, a company owned by Richard Branson, is offering flights to space to Indian customers through a newly formed company Spazio Luxury Tours, a joint venture between two travel industry firms, Deluxe Travels Europe and GD Goenka Tourism Corporation Ltd.

The company owns and operates privately built spaceships. These spaceships, which are currently under construction, are expected to allow affordable private sub-orbital space travel for the first time in history and give customers the opportunity of being amongst the very first private astronauts.The 470-odd people who have booked their seats include four men of Indian origin, all of them from US and UK. There will be three days of pre-flight preparation, bonding and training onsite at the Virgin spaceport.
