Five undertrials escape

PATIALA, JAN 19: Five undertrials, who had been brought for production in various courts in the district courts complex here today, escaped from police custody, police said.The escapees were among 59 undertrials, who were brought for production in district courts.

The five undertrials broke open the back door of the lock-up in the judicial courts complex with an iron rod and escaped, police said.All the undertrials were brought to the district courts without handcuffs from the Central Jail, Patiala.

An alert has been sounded in search of the five undertrials.
