First defence, then offence

The BJP took on a lot of rivals over Taslima Nasreen. But it did all these only after deciding to first shift her out of Rajasthan where it runs the government. On the night that Nasreen landed in Jaipur, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje called senior party leader L K Advani and argued that the BJP had to play the perfect host using the gender card. However, she was advised to keep off from involvement in the controversy. The state police then shifted her to Rajasthan House in Delhi. When the BJP was sure that the Bangladeshi writer was out of Rajasthan, the party began its statement war seeking protection for her.
