JAMMU, SEPT 7: Two militants and two Army personnel were killed when Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire and Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu, defence sources said here on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when Army personnel challenged a group of militants who had entered Indian territory via Chaman Post.

The militants opened heavy fire on the troops who retaliated killing two ultras, the sources said. The other militants fled back to Pakistan with Pakistani Rangers giving them cover fire in which two Indian Army personnel were killed and an equal number injured. The injured have been admitted to Army hospital in Poonch, the sources said.

Intermittent exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani troops was continuing at various places along the LoC and the International Border in Poonch, Rajouri, Akhnoor, R S Pura and Samba sector since Wednesday evening, they said.
