Qutubuddin Ansari, the face of the Gujarat riots, has retruned home. Seemingly consoled by the fact that NDA is no longer in power and that the BJP is considerably weakened in the state.

Ansari, the Ahmedabad tailor who pleaded with rioters with folded hands during the Gujrat riots, was given shelter in Kolkata by the West Bengal government. Ansari came to the city on August 9 last year with wife Tahera, son Zeeshan and daughter Rukaiya and settled at Topsiya in south Kolkata. The state government gave him a house and a tailoring shop at Tiljala.

8216;8216;He has left Kolkata for his home state,8217;8217; South 24-Parganas SP Siddhi Nath Gupta said. Ansari, who lived at Bapujinagar in Ahmedabad, began work at a new tailoring shop near his old home in August this year, The Indian Express has learnt.

Ansari is known to have returned as his mother is very ill. More importantly, he felt the NDA government is gone and following the BJP8217;s rout in the state in the Lok Sabha polls, the situation in Gujarat is better. But then, Ansari wants to come back to Kolkata again. 8216;8216;He says Kolkata has given him so much,8217;8217; a relative of Ansari8217;s said.
