While Ashok Kumar Walia, finance minister in the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government in Delhi, is said to be strong enough in the Laxmi Nagar seat, Murari Singh Panwar, the Bharatiya Janata Party contestant from the seat, says he will beat him this time.

Panwar claims the constituency has not witnessed any development work in the past 15 years. Walia has won from the Geeta Colony seat in the last three polls and shifted to the Laxmi Nagar constituency, after delimitation left his constituency cancelled.

Panwar has told voters that Walia is a 8220;promise minister8221;, who has never delivered. 8220;He has only inaugurated projects and development plans for the constituency in the past 15 years; not a single proposal has materialised,8221; Panwar said.

8220;Be it schools, colleges, or hospitals, not one of them has seen the light of the day despite several promises made by him Walia. We will defeat him this time,8221; he said.

His workers have already started distributing 8216;Aashvasan mantri ko harao defeat the assurances minister8217; posters in his constituency.
