Federer beats Thai superstar

Roger Federer dashed the hometown victory dream of fourth seed Paradorn Srichaphan 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 today to blast into the final of the 550,000 Thailand Open over Asia8217;s tennis hero.

Federer stands a step away from a 10th trophy this season; he awaits a winner from another semi-final: Andy Roddick versus Marat Safin. Federer won his 68th match of the season against just six losses. After the game the Thai crowd gave both players a standing ovation.
