Governor gopalkrishna gandhi broke his silence on Tuesday on the Rizwanur Rehman death case.

8220;It is a shocking incident. I understand the anguish and the trauma that the boy8217;s family is going through. The government is investigating the death and the guilty will definitely be punished. I also appreciate the way the entire society has come forward to share the grief of Rizwanur8217;s family,8221; said Gandhi. Several people, including Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and representatives of various organisations, have met Gandhi after Rizwanur8217;s death and submitted memoranda demanding his intervention in the matter. Sujata Bhadra of Association for Protection of Democratic Rights, the agency Rizwanur got in touch with before his death, said, 8220;We met the Governor on September 27 and submitted a memorandum on this issue. It is heartening that the Governor has expressed his concern in public.8221;
