
MUMBAI, FEB 17: The L T Marg police nabbed one person red-handed when he came to collect extortion money from a businessman at South Mumbai on Wednesday evening. According to the police, the victims had been receiving death threats from a unknown person to pay up Rs 50,000 between February 2 -16. The caller threatened to even kill the entire family if the money was not paid, the police said.
The Anti-Extortion Cell South Region was alerted and a trap was laid for the suspect. The victim, at the instance of the police, agreed to pay the money.
On Wednesday evening the suspect arrived at the place of rendezvous to collect the money not suspecting that he had walked into the trap. He has been identified as Feroz Shamji. The police are looking for his associate Sanjay, who managed to give the police a slip.
