• The suggestions made in N K Singh’s column, ‘‘How to save the Tiger’’, should be implemented. It would help if the Ministry of Environment and Forests were split into two separate ministries — for environment and for forests and wildlife. The PM has shown his concern but some concrete action is needed.

• With reference to Coomi Kapoor’s column, ‘‘Inside Track’’, Jagdish Tytler’s initiative to include a scheme that would check out the bona fides of prospective NRI grooms is a welcome step. It would save many Indian girls from being duped by these grooms.

• With reference to the report, ‘‘10 money mistakes to avoid…’’, it is unfortunate that many taxpayers do not believe in proper tax-planning. They only wake up at the last moment, and so end up paying heavy taxes. One can save taxes without breaking the law, just by taking advantage of the right interpretation of some provisions of the Income Tax Act, as decided by the courts.
