In his column, ‘‘12/13 vs 9/11: Don’t even start’’, P. Chidambaram aptly sums up the present situation in the country. The BJP only spews hot air on Pakistan. It has no plans to defend the nation from external aggression. All it is capable of is destroying ancient traditions and killing fellow Indians.

I was completely shocked and disgusted by the piece of tabloid junk in The Sunday Express (December 12) on Michael Jackson — ‘‘Moonwalking in Neverland’’. Jackson is the greatest artist the world has known or will ever know. The write-up was an act of extreme insolence. It only proves that greatness breeds jealousy.
— Juhi Srivastava
Michael Jackson is undoubtedly the most amazing performer in the world. He has enthralled people throughout the world. He is also a great human being who has brought smiles to millions of faces. I sincerely hope The Sunday Express will not associate itself with such writing which was nothing other than sleazy journalism.

Tavleen Singh has raised a very poignant question in her column, ‘‘After Rajeev, Before Modi’’. History works both ways: forgetting lessons from the past helps to revive the zest for progress; at the same time it makes us repeat the same mistakes.
— Dr Uma Asopa
I share Tavleen Singh’s concern over use of the Hindutava card by Narendra Modi, whose fanaticism has caused irreparable damage to the sensitive silken bonds of our composite culture. The crude politics of hate and communal divide has poisoned and polluted the environment. But we must be optimistic about the future of Indian democracy which has survived such shocks and setbacks in the past.
