8226; This refers to Contempt of Quote The Sunday Express, Oct 12. Advani8217;s trial by media in the Babri Masjid demolition case continues relentlessly. However, the interpretation of facts leaves a lot to be desired. Anju Gupta, who was in charge of Advani8217;s security on December 6, 1992, says that as soon as Advani arrived, the situation became tense and it got worse as he spoke. Should Advani8217;s mere presence be interpreted as being enough to incite the kar sevaks to demolish the Babri Masjid? Again, Gupta states that none of the leaders did anything to stop the demolition of Babri Masjid. Now, how could a handful of leaders stop thousands of kar sevaks? It was the BJP8217;s view that the party did not approve the way the mosque was demolished but once the act took place, it had no regrets about it. So if Advani did celebrate the demolition of the mosque, that cannot be considered a ground for filing chargesheet against him.

8226; This refers to the article by Tavleen Singh on The Sunday Express, Oct 12, The Maya in the raids. Singh should know that politicians do waste public money over unfinished projects and finished ones as well. Remember the dam washed out just three days after its inauguration by the Jharkhand CM? Her feelings of sympathy towards Mayawati could only be termed ridiculous. When Singh says that public money is wasted over raids, she is either joking or is a fool. The money dug out is far greater than the expenses of a raid. She better understand the working of CVC and CAG. Let her lack of knowledge not confuse the readers.

8226; Apropos Tavleen Singh8217;s piece, the moot question is 8216;what is the end result of every Income-Tax raid?8217; Newspapers report up to the raid stage only. How many of the tax evaders 8212; even after the raids 8212; get punished? No one knows what actions are taken post raids. Media must publish the final report 8212; consequences 8212; of such raids till such cases are disposed off. Even Central Board of Direct Taxes must publish annually the final outcome of all raids during the year. It should be mandatory for CBDT to publish such a report and make it public.

8226; I fully agree with P Chidambaram Reforms for reforms8217; sake, The Sunday Express, October 12. It seems some readers and the BJP leaders think that whatever they are doing are always right and all the others are wrong. I see a similarity between them and the Bush Administration. You are either with us or against us. And if you are against us then you are against the mankind and with the goons like Saddam or bin Laden.

8226; By writing such a piece, P Chidambaram has put his credibility as a financial expert at stake. In the US, the price of crude oil is just 28 per barrel and the retail price of refined oil is 1.03 which in rupee terms comes to Rs 5-7 per litre for crude oil and Rs 13-15 per litre for refined petrol. In India the purchase price of crude remains just Rs 5-7 per litre and while the transportation cost will be less as compared to USA, the retail price of refined petrol as given to us the consumers is Rs 35 per litre. Can you justify the huge difference in the oil prices in USA and India and say that the oil PSUs are profit-making? They are just monopolies and by increasing the prices are earning profits. If they are compelled to sell petrol at the US prices will they remain 8216;profit-making8217;? The consumers are looking forward to a rival private company which will ensure competition and will bring the prices down.
