CHANDIGARH, MAY 1: A retired Army officer has been convicted and released on probation by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge, S. S. Lamba in a house trespass and assault case. Upholding the conviction, the judge also directed the officer, Lt. Col. Rajiv Rastogi, to pay Rs.5,000 as compensation to the complainant.Lt. Col. Rastogi, a resident of Sector 44, had earlier been sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 1,000 by the then Judicial Magistrate (Ist Class) Seema Dhillon. He had been booked by the Chandigarh Police under Section 452 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of Narinder Sodhi, residing on a first floor flat of the same block. Two abrasions were found on Narinder's arms, after the police got her medically examined.
