NEW DELHI, September 18: Sukantanagar High School (SAI) from West Bengal scored an emphatic 5-1 victory over Greenwood High School (Nagaland) in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here today.
In another match, Govt Senior Secondary School (Car Nicobar) downed ANFA from Nepal 2-1 while in the last match of the day Army Boys Company (Danapur) defeated Keinou High School (Manipur) 2-1.
The West Bengal school found the going rather easy right from the start of the game with the school boys from Nagaland hardly putting any resistance against them. Though the winners managed to score only once in the first session, they came back strongly in the second half to net four times.
Mohammad Sayed was the star of their vicotry with a three-in-a-row feat as he struck in the 25th, 46th and 50th minutes. Thereafter it was left to Subhas Chakroborty and Arup Singha to complete the tally. In between Moang scored the lone goal for Nagaland.
The Car Nicobar school struggled to start with but seemed always in control of the situation as they struck once in each half through Gomer and for Nepal Saugat Subba netted in the 21st minute.
In the third match, Danapur boys had no problem in putting it across Manipur boys, though the former had some anxious moments, particularly when Manipur pulled one back through Jotin. For Danapur, Gabli Sombrai scored.
