PANCHKULA, Oct 8: Electricity supply in some showrooms of Sector 5 was affected when an overloaded truck brought down four electricity poles here. All the electricity wires were snapped following the incident.

According to information available, the truck was overloaded and was bringing goods at the Hafed building when it hit the wires, bringing down the poles. It was after a resident, B.L. Tandon, reported the incident to HVPN officials and the police, that the truck was impounded by the police.

The HVPN officials informed that it will take some days for the repair work to be completed. However, the department was trying to restore the connection to some of the showrooms today.

Two injured in road accidents
Two persons were injured in separate accidents in the district today. In the first incident, a pedestrian, Sanjeev Kumar, was injured when he was knocked down by a scooterist near Mansa Devi crossing. In the other incident, Rosy Sharma, a resident of Chandigarh, was injured when her car was hit by a speeding Gypsy near the dividing road of Sectors 8 and 17. The car was also badly damaged. The Sector 5 police station has registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 427 IPC. The Gypsy driver fled the scene.
