
Haryana has the potential to save 25 to 30 per cent of the energy used in the agriculture sector by making the existing tubewell system energy efficient. This was said on Sunday by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam MD Vijayendra Kumar, who added that 170 lakh units of electricity can be saved on daily basis by making the tubewells energy efficient by upto 20 per cent. 8220;Setting up a new generating unit to produce the number of units that we can save this way requires a an expenditure of Rs 600 crore,8221; he said.He emphasised upon the need to use electrical gadgets star-rated by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency BEE and equipment approved by the Bureau of Indian Standard BIS.
