Members of Express Youth Forum share their experiences and expectations as they announce the next popular and eventful fest called Verve
Electrifying, pulsating, thrilling 8211; this is how they describe the event. The members of Express Youth Forum EYF are once again ready for all the excitement and fun as they set the stage for one of the most popular youth events, Verve. 8220;It8217;s as maddening as it is exciting, when a group of 30 students handle a crowd of 3000 participants,8221; says Alefiya Haideri, the youngest member of the team.
The most awaited event is scheduled to take place in February 2009. It witnesses huge participation from colleges from all over Maharashtra and promises as much experience and learning as it guarantees fun.
8220;This is the forum8217;s biggest event. Throughout the year we indulge in social activities. But when it comes to Verve, everything takes a back seat, as the event demands a lot of attention and effort, says Ankit Jain, one of the committee members of EYF.
8220;We not only emphasise on organising a rocking and fun-filled event but also see to it that our members gain by being in the organisers8217; group. We aim for development of youth and here at Verve, each one of us gets to do a lot of public speaking, managing the crowd, marketing and getting sponsors, which helps us learn more,8221; says Jain.
Sharing some of the fun-filled experiences, Neha Kandharkar, member, EYF, says, 8220;The energy outdistances the tiredness and therefore we don8217;t realise until it8217;s over how tired we are. The dress code for female organisers is saree and most of us turn into absolute saree-experts and giving tips to each other on how to handle the dress. Funny or good, but I remember having slept in saree and also running across the ground like that only.8221;
Defining the event, Sandesh Nair, one of the oldest members of the forum says, 8220;One month of complete frenzy and fun. Not only the EYF but the city looks forwards to it with equal keenness.8221;
Haideri observes, 8220;It has all the unofficial yet inseparable elements of a youth fest, like match-making and friendship and stardom,8221; elaborating, 8220;I being the junior most feel like a star when my seniors address me as ma8217;am. The best moment was when I entered my principal8217;s office to take his permission for putting the Verve banner, he did not recognize me his student, but I got more than a grand treatment the moment I told him that I am from his college and also a part of the Verve team and I felt no less than a VIP in my own college. Such occasions are thrilling and motivating.8221;
Murtuza Salim, a new member of the forum is a Kuwait national and is so impressed by the concept and the popularity of the event that he wishes to take it to his country. 8220;I came here for making new friends but I got more than I thought of. This is for the first time that I am being a part of this and I am feeling great about it,8221; says Salim.
8220;We hardly get to talk to our principal and being in the organising team of Verve allowed to us to sit on a sofa with a principal of other college, have coffee and chit-chat. This may sound silly but being a students it matters for all of us,8221; says Jain.
Karan Jairath, member, EYF, says, 8220;My parents initially did not appreciate the idea of me working tirelessly without being paid, but after they saw my name in the newspaper and the importance that we command among students, they also appreciated my effort and encouraged me.8221;
So the event promises to be everything that is youthful and energetic as it unfolds the drama of cutthroat competition and life-long friendship.
