EC issues notice to AP minister

The EC issued notice to an Andhra Pradesh Minister for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct.

The Election Commission issued notice to an Andhra Pradesh Minister for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct in the run up to the by-polls in the state.

The Commission served the notice on Rural Development Minister G Chinna Reddy and asked him to file his response by May 21.

According to media reports, he had used a convoy of vehicles, including official vehicles, to address public gathering of political nature in Jadcheral assembly constituency in the state, the EC said.

8220;The Commission has decided to afford you an opportunity to explain why action should not be initiated against you for violating the provisions of Model Code of Conduct,8221; it said.

The Commission also served a notice to M L Swarna, an MLA for violating the Model Code of Conduct.
