NEW DELHI, November 29: Ram Lal Anand College (M&E) toyed with Satyawati College to win their group B game 4-1 in the Zakir Husain Memorial Football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here today.

In another match, Jamia Millia Islamia defeated Motilal Nehru College 3-1 in a game that picked up momentum after the barren first half.

In the first match, Ram Lal College boys made several worthwhile forays into the rival territory without much resistance from Satyawati College and dominated the proceedings completely.

However, the Satyawati boys tried to give off their best, particularly midway through the first half, when they threatened to force the pace. But all that they could manage to strike the first goal to go one-up. But once RLA boys equalised they mounted pressure and Satyawati were back at the receiving end and as RLA gained upperhand.

Sonam Tenzim put Satyawati in the lead and it was neutralised when linkman Ajay netted home for RLA. Just before the interval, RLA’s Rajesh headed home a lob which brooked no challenge from the close in defenders. On resumption Deepak Jain and Vijay Rawat scored once each to seal the fate of Satyawati.

The second match failed to raise to occasion with the teams indulging in unnecesary passing and aimless shooting. The breather seemed to have done some good to Jamia boys as they immediately on resumption struck when Sumit Kaushik placed in. However, a few minutes later Hiryanand Chouhan of MNC hit the target for the equaliser.

Jamia, undeterred, continued to attack and it yielded immediate dividends as Sanjeev Nair and Aamarjeet Singh Sahney scored capitalising on the feeding done by their wingers.
