Amita Nangia has proved a point 8212; in filmi ishtyle. For a long time, the wags have been insisting that Nangia8217;s marriage to Sanjay is on the rocks and they are all set for a divorce. Now Nangia has given a fitting reply. On Karva Chauth Nangia not only refused to eat anything , but also did not have a sip of water. And when the moon came up, she called her husband on the mobile. He rushed over to Film City and only after seeing him did Nangia break her fast!
All for love
Love can be a short-lived blindness. Neelam Sagar was so besotted with Rajeev Kapoor that she accompanied him all the way to the USA, for a film shoot in which she had no part to play. She left behind harassed TV producers and was even replaced in Hum Paanch. Now Sagar is back with a broken heart and no work. You see her lurking outside the offices of producers and directors.
Downslide
Another casualty appears to be Seema Kapoor. After reaching a peak with over seven serials simultaneously on air, she8217;s now down to two 8212; Intequaam on Zee and Padosan on DD 2. But rather than hang outside producers8217; offices, Seema has ventured into theatre. After the success of A Suitable Bride, she is rehearsing for another play, Made For Each Other. Seema is also producing a Punjabi movie for which she has already recorded a song with Mahendra Kapoor. Needless to say, Seema plays the lead role. But she is yet to find a hero or even a director for the film.
Ga ga over God
Dheeraj Kumar appears to be obsessed with his serial Om Namah Shivay. He shot the Shiv-Parvati marriage as a song sequence and it took him eleven days and six locations to complete it. The song also uses a heavy dose of computer graphics, with 1,000 skeletons dancing in tune with real characters. And for Diwali, he gave every unit member an alarm clock 8212; with a twist. It has Om written on the dial face, instead of the regular numerals. And instead of an alarm, the clock chirps the Om Namah Shivay mantra! And for a full 35 minutes, if you don8217;t switch it off!
Fussy ways
Rishab Shukla is the latest on the star tantrum list. After playing Lord Krishna in B.R. Chopra8217;s Mahabharata, the lordly ways seem to have rubbed off on Shukla. He has made a virtue of being late on the sets and then getting upset if the food or tea comes late. He has even hiked his price: from Rs 15,000 he has now started charging Rs 30,000 per episode.
Festive spirit
When it comes to festivals, the Jeetandra-Kapoor family seems to be the Numero Uno. Every time a festival crops up, characters in their serials celebrate it. And now they have taken their penchant for festivities to the extreme by giving the entire unit of Itihaas a one month vacation. For a daily serial, that is unheard of. Wonder what the members of Yug serial must be thinking 8212; they were shooting even on Diwali.
Only talent
Shekhar Suman is busy with the beauty pageant he is organising and compering 8212; The Miss India Worldwide. It will be held on November 3 at the Centaur Hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. And predictably it8217;s a tribute to 50 years of Indian Independence. But unlike other pageants, this one will have no baring and daring events. Suman insists that beauty is a part of the show, but the focus is on talent.
Into music
More and more cricketers seem to be queuing up for television these day. Now you will see Ajay Jadeja, Anil Kumble, Vinod Kambli, Robin Singh and others on the Nimbus production, Cricket In Control, which comes to MTV. And they won8217;t be talking about cricket, but about their favourite songs.
