Nothing beats the high of finding rhythm in front of the home crowd. Even Chandigarh Dynamos would vouch for it as the team ousted Sher-e-Jalandhar 2-0 in a Tier I match of the Second Premier Hockey League PHL at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Sunday, which was attended by nearly 10,000 hockey lovers.

The defeat could point to the failure of fancied Sher-e-Jalandhar to click as a team, but it did prove that hockey still has a tremendous following in north India.

The match truly belonged to the young Chandigarh Dynamos players, who played with their hearts out in freezing conditions. The first quarter was little dull as compared to the rest of the match as the teams took time to gauge each other. The second quarter saw many counter attacks from each team. Chandigarh Dynamos were bolstered by the presence of speedy Pakistan forward Mudassar Ali, who though played as a midfielder, Inderjit Singh Chadha, captain Rajpal Singh and Deepak Thakur. Even Dutch player Balder Bomans also left his prints during the period he was used in the game.

Sher-e-Jalandhar forward-line was again lacking the fire to pounce on the balls fed to it by the halfbacks.
