Delhi’s Hemant Duggal defeated local hope Himanshu Thakkar 21-17 to qualify for the men’s singles main draw of the NSCI Grand Prix all-India prize money (Rs 4 lakh) badminton tournament on Tuesday.

Delhi’s Manmeet Singh pipped Assam’s Ajanta Choudhary with identical scores in the best-of-one matches while Praveen Gehlawat beat V Diju of Kerala 21-9. However, three other shuttlers from Kerala — S Thomas, KA Anish and Jason Xavier — sailed into the main draw.
