Joseph Thomas, an MBA in marketing and finance, founded Integrated Training Systems, a Pune-based organisation providing high-quality training consultancy and auditing services, in 1994. And he certainly needs no introduction as a voice-over artist.
Joseph has lent his voice for a number of promotional advertisement and corporate films including Mercedez Benz, Picadilly Computers, Brooke Bond, Larsen amp; Toubro, Finolex, Mahindra and Mahindra8230; once he even recorded 12 corporate films in a day for the B.G. Shirke Group. Joseph has also done voice-overs for several documentary films, including Samvedana, which was declared the third best documentary at the Berlin Festival.
And what makes a good voice? Thomas, who conducts voice-training workshops, replies promptly, 8220;To begin with, a good voice must have the three t8217;s 8211; texture, timbre and tone. One must then be able to modulate and control it, besides having an in-depth understanding of the subtle nuances of the language.8221; And anybody aspiring to be a voice must possess The Phonetic Dictionary by David Jones!
Thomas also believes that there is nothing like a good voice or a bad voice, as today an entire spectrum of voices is needed. And he definitely seems to have established himself as the voice in Pune, the city he will never leave as he loves it so much. But, of course, after Satya, there is bound to be more shuttling between Pune and the tinsel town of Mumbai.
