MUMBAI, February 14: A Delhi-based director of a private firm was arrested after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence DRI unearthed a duty drawback racket.

Satish S Gupta, Director of Sharp Travels India Ltd, has been remanded to judicial custody upto February 20 by the holiday metropolitan magistrate N B Pokharkar on Saturday.

Two Customs inspectors involved in the case at Delhi have been placed under suspension pending investigations, DRI officials said. The total amount of fraudulent drawback8217; claimed in the shipment of 36 containers was about Rs. 7.4 crore, out of which Rs. 3.87 crore had already been disbursed, the remand application said adding that the fraud was in connivance with some other persons who are yet to be traced.
