Dowry case; two held for attempt to murder

CHANDIGARH, Nov 18: The City police have registered a case of attempt to murder and harassment for dowry against the in-laws of 20-year-old Shabnam alias Pinky, who was hospitalised at the GMC hospital in Sector 32 on Sunday evening with 25 per cent burns.

The case was registered on the basis of the victim8217;s statement in which she alleged that her mother-in-law Sangita Bagum and sister-in-law Sawna Bagum, both residents of Colony number 4, had poured kerosene over her and set her on fire.

Shabnam had married Shahzad, an auto mechanic, on June 6 this year in the mass marriage organised by the Chandigarh Administration. The two accused have been arrested.
