We get more time to talk to each other because we operate from one work place.8221; This could be the reason why doctors Sanjay and Meenu Agarwal exhibit happy, smiling faces to the world. Both doctors he is a physician, she a gyneacologist and extremely busy individuals, communicating is no problem and discussions on common patients are frequent. 8220;It8217;s advantageous to be in the same profession, 8221; they confirm cheerfully.
Seven years of matrimony, but the Agarwals are still a little shy of talking of years that have flown by so fast. Their world consists of work, home and their son Varun, who needs all the attention of a toddler. 8220;We make it a point to keep our week-ends free, 8221;says Sanjay. Swimming is top priority these days as a way of relaxation. Or they could just take off on an outing with son in tow.
Other sensitive subjects include Sanjay Agarwal8217;s penchant for whiling time at the computer and watching Baywatch. 8220;I don8217;t like it when he watches Baywatch and we do fight over it at times,8221; says Meenu unabashedly. She tolerates time spent at the computer, for obvious reasons! On Sanjay8217;s part, he feels she should be more organised and plan things more carefully.
Like any normal couple, they share a few common interests and cross swords over some. Their tastes in food, for instance, differ. He prefers fresh home-cooked food to oily restaurant fare. But they have reached a compromise; they are fond of Chinese food and Chinese Room East Street and Blue Diamond are favourite food haunts. In her spare time, Meenu likes to read, go swimming and look after the homestead and it8217;s decor her domain entirely, whereas he prefers to listen to music and tinker around with the computer.
On the professional front, however, both agree that they have reached a satisfying point in their careers. Says Meenu Agarwal, 8220; One feels a sense of gratification when critical patients emerge from severe maladies. As a gynecologist, I feel great when women suffering from infertility conceive after many years. I treated a patient recently who gave birth after 14 years and another one is due next month, after 18 years.8221; For the future, both plan to improve and update their knowledge. 8220;We keep in touch by attending conferences, medical meets and browsing on the Internet.8221; The couple appears to be well-entrenched in their chosen lifestyle and shows every sign of keeping it that way!
