
KOLHAPUR, May 3: Noted classical singer Pandit Sudhakarbuwa Digrajkar died after long illness at his residence here yesterday, family sources said today. He was 77. The singer was bed-ridden for the past four months after an acute paralytic attack he had suffered at Hyderabad, where he was conducting examinations.
Sudhakarbuwa had his primary lessons in music from Pandit Vamanrao Padhye and Pandit Vishvanathbuwa Jadhav. From 1941 onwards, he started learning classical music of Atroli Jaipur gharana under the guidance of Pandit Nivruttibuwa Sarnaik.
The eminent khayal, dadra and thumri artiste was also on the list of All India Radio singers. He was closely associated with Shivaji University8217;s music department as a honorary professor and had several disciples all over the State and Karnataka.
