Did you know that in India nearly 1200 species of birds are found? You will be more surprised to know that in Mumbai alone, we get nearly 269 species of birds. But how many birds do we see or know?

This can only be possible when one starts watching birds seriously. Just like plants attract butterflies and moths, they attract birds too. In fact, it would be very easy to study birds if there are different trees around. The flowers, fruit and insects found on trees are a source of food for birds. Like insects, birds too are good pollinators. Propagation of some trees like Peepal, Banyan and even Sandalwood is efficiently done by birds alone. If you wish to observe birds from your balcony then check whether your garden or colony has the following trees which the birds like a lot:

Mast tree, Banyan, Jamun, Bottle Brush, Babul tree, Coral Tree, Drumstick, Guava, Mango, Tamarind tree, Neem, Peepal, Mulberry, Rain tree and many more. The list is a long one but if any of the above trees are found in your locality, then you are most likely to see good birdlife.
