The Madhavpura police station, on Saturday, registered a bizarre complaint: of persistent harassment by abusive phone calls to the Police Control Room PCR. On Saturday, Inspector A Y Sarvani filed a complaint against a mobile phone owner after tracing the crank caller8217;s identity. He had been abusing the police on the phone daily for a month.

According to Sarvani, they had been receiving abusive phone calls on the toll free number 100 at the PCR. 8220;He spoke in Gujarati and used abusive language for the police. We do receive crank calls, so we overlooked the matter. But on Friday, he called us seven times in a row,8221; said Sarvani.

Tired of hearing abuses, the police finally traced the man down and decided to file a police complaint against him on Saturday. Charges under Sections 186 obstructing a public servant from discharging duty, 504 for breach of peace, 294 B obscenity and 114 abetment of the IPC have been slapped on him.

Meanwhile Inspector K M Vaghela of Madhavpura police said they are now tracking down the whereabouts of the user.
