PUNE, JUNE 21: The Pune Municipal Corporation will take action against unauthorised portion of a building where office of Chankya Mandal, run by bureaucrat-turned-social activist Avinash Dharmadhikari is located.

City engineer Madhav Harihar today told general body that the PMC had already sent a one-month notice to Dharmadhikari, chief trustee of Chankya Mandal, last month. Harihar said the civic administration, which conducted spot survey of the building, had found certain unauthorised structures.

The issue was raised by Vilas Wadekar of Nationalist Congress Party and Ajit Darekar of Congress.

Both pointed out that three persons 8212; Shankar Prabhune, Gopal Lonkar and one Shaikh, who were tenants before Chankya Mandal purchased property for the development, had threatened self- immolation as they were not given possession of their falts.

Wadekar said the PMC was not taking action against Chankya Mandal since Dharmadhikari was a former IAS officer.

Wadekar alleged that Chankya sandal was using the building for commercial purposes as it was charging a fee of Rs 3,000 from every student for filling the application. He said the corporation had not even completed the property tax assessment while mandal had already started using the entire building.

Darekar said mandal did not intend to hand over flats to three tenants since it had not constructed kitchen platforms in any flat. Both the corporators also asked as to why corporator sent one-month notice to Dharmadhikari while other citizens were given only 24 hours notice.
