Morari Bapu to lead all-religion congregation in JanuaryIn a bid to bridge the communal divide in the state, a Dharm Samvaad by religious leader and kathakar Morari Bapu is being organised at Mahuva taluka in Bhavnagar district early next year. Religious leaders of different faiths including Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi, Muslim representatives from both Shia and Sunni sects, Zen monks from Japan and Christian missionaries are expected to attend the forum slated for January 6-11, 2009. Vishwagram, a voluntary organisation in collaboration with the widely revered Hindu religious leader Morari Bapu, has taken this initiative. A new front by the name of Sadbhavana Forum is also being launched in this regard to organise various events of communal harmony throughout the year. Morari Bapu said: “In addition to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the time has come to have a Sadbhavana Sabha, representing the diverse ethnicity of India. This Dharm Samvaad will be the first step in this direction.” He said this will provide an opportunity to the general public to understand the interpretations and true meanings of various religions as well as identify the points of convergence among them. Sanjay Bhavsar of Vishwagram said: “In continuation of the efforts for communal harmony, a Sadbhavana Parv will be organised between February 25 and 27, 2009.” He added: “Here, the focus will be on teachers of various schools and colleges from across the state. Since teachers are in constant interaction with the young minds, they can be the real agents of change in percolating the message of peace and universal brotherhood to the next generation.”
