NEW DELHI, June 8: Lok Sabha Speaker G M C Balayogi has constituted 17 Parliamentary Committees, a Lok Sabha release said today.
Kamal Choudhary will be the chairman of the 43-member Committee on Defence. Former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral has been appointed chairman of the Committee on External Affairs. The committee has 44 members.
Murali Deora is the chairman of the Committee on Finance, which has 45 members. K Karunakaran is the chairman of the 30-member Committee on Energy. Ashok Mitra is the chairman of the 43-member Committee on Commerce while Pranab Mukherjee will head the Committee on Home Affairs, which has 44 members.
S B Chavan has become the chairman of the Committee on Human Resource Development which has 43 members.
Raghavji has been appointed chairman of the 45-member Committee on Industry.
S R Bommai is to head of the 43-member Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests.
Vijay Kumar Malhotra has been appointed chairman of the Committee on Transport andTourism. It has 45 members.
K Yerran Naidu has been appointed chairman of the 42-member Committee on Agriculture.
The Committee on Communications is being headed by Somnath Charterjee. It has 45 members.
Raghuvansh Prasad Singh will be the new chairman of the 42-member Committee on Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution.
The Labour and Welfare Committee, which has 43 members on it, is being headed by Harin Pathak.
Balram Jakhar has been appointed chairman of the 45-member Committee on Petroleum and Chemicals.
The Committee on Railways is headed by Mamata Banerjee. The committee has 45 members.
Kishan Singh Sangwan is the chairman of the Committee on Urban and Rural Development, which also has 45 members.
