Delhi Metro is set to arrive in Uttar Pradesh. The UP government cleared the proposal for the Metro rail in Ghaziabad district on Tuesday. It will cover Kaushambi and Vaishali in the UP district, neighbouring Delhi.

According to UP Chief Secretary Navin Chandra Bajpai, the proposal to extend the Metro services to Ghaziabad was approved by the state Cabinet on Tuesday. Bajpai said that the project would take two years to complete and Rs 170 crore has been earmarked for it.

The Metro stretch to Ghaziabad will start from the Inter State Bus Terminal ISBT in Anand Vihar and reach Vaishali covering 2.05 km. There will be two stoppages in Ghaziabad, at Kaushambi and Vaishali. Bajpai told ENS that the primary level discussions had been held with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC officials and the final agreement would be inked soon. 8216;8216;The Ghaziabad Development Authority GDA has agreed to implement the project and bear the cost,8217;8217; he said. The final negotiations would be initiated by the GDA with DMRC and other parties concerned. Bajpai said that later, the project could be extended to cover more areas.
