Delhi moved into the Ranji Trophy semifinals after putting up a solid batting display on the fourth and final day of their Elite Group 8216;A8217; match against Hyderabad at the Ferozshah Kotla ground here today.

Resuming at their overnight score of 260 for two, Delhi posted a mammoth 492 for eight declared in reply to the visitors8217; 297 for 9 declared.

Hyderabad made 106 for two in their second essay before the umpires called halt to the match at the end of eighth mandatory over.

Delhi finished the group engagements with eight points from seven matches and will take on Tamil Nadu in the semifinals at home.

Hyderabad with five points retained their Elite group slot. Overnight centurion Gautam Gambhir missed out on his double ton, falling leg before to N P Singh on 174 344m, 256b, 23215;4, 1215;6.

But Varun Kumar 74, 148m, 112b, 13215;4 and Vijay Dahiya 78, 121m, 98b, 7215;4 piled on the visitors8217; agony.

Amit Bhandari8217;s four for 80 in Hyderabad8217;s first innings was the other positive for the hosts.
