According to R.R. Suresh, DTF president, “The DUTA president is hell-bent on acting as an agent of the HRD Minister and is trying to sabotage the general body mandate on the implementation of the UGC recommendations.”

He added that the UGC was trying to bypass the statutory functions of the Executive Council and Academic Council by seeking information regarding the day-to-day details of compensatory work done in lieu of work-loss in September 1997.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Teachers Organisation has demanded the resignation of DUTA president Shriram Oberoi. “If he can’t face DUTA executive and DUTA general body it is better for him to resign,” said PTO president J.P. Sharma.
