Defective drainage, leaking ceiling, poor tiles8230;

PUNE, Feb 8: Pune District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has ordered Avinash Bhosale amp; Company of Bhosale Heights, Fergusson College Road to rectify all defects in the flat purchased from him by complainant Shailaja Pratap Rege, a resident of Banali Apartments in Aundh within one month of the date of the order.

Bhosale has also been directed to pay Rs 1,000 as cost of proceedings to her. According to the complaint, she bought the flat from Bhosale and noticed many deficiencies in construction. She asked the opponent to rectify them and reminded him from time to time but nothing was done. The deficiencies included leakage in the bathroom from the ceiling, inferior quality of tiles, bad water proofing, no cover over the water tank and no cap on the bore well. The windows and doors of the flat also bore painting marks from when the flat was painted, bathroom taps leaked and the drainage was defective.

When the opponent refused to consider her complaints, she had to approach the forum. On being served a notice, the builder denied that there were any defect in the flat and called the complaint false.
