CHANDIGARH, Dec 23: Showing overall supremacy DAV College, Sector 11 blanked Government College, Sector 11 by 3-0 on their way to final in the Punjab University Inter-College Tennis Tournament at the Panjab University courts here today.

Down by one set Vivek bounced back into the game with style as he defeated Vikas 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the opening singles. Birbal Wadhera then demolished Lavpreet whom he routed without dropping a game. He won 6-0, 6-0.

Later, Birbal partnered Sarbarinder Singh to beat Rohit and Vikas 6-1, 6-2 in the doubles to complete Government College rout.

Atul prevails
Atul Sharma prevailed over B Khurana in a sea-saw battle which lasted nearly four hours in the snooker event of the Haryana State billiards and snooker championship here today.

Khurana started well in the first frame and won it 55-35 but then got slowed down by Atul and lost the next frame 32-51. In the third frame both scored consistently but Atul edged past Khurana on the last black ball 55-50. Khurana outscored Atul 80-45 but could not maintain the same rythm in the final frame and lost it, and the match, 55-49. In a junior snooker match Akshay defeated Raghav Baweja. Akshay won the first two frames 47-22, 45-55 comfortably but Raghav snatched the third frame 45-55. The fourth frame went to Akshay easily at 45-30. In billiards, Deepak Goel had a comfortable victory over Ravi Baweja 400-267. Deepak scored at will and hit breaks of 59, 55, 28, 30. Lalit defeated B K Arora 310-170 in another game.

Athletic trials
Trials to select the Chandigarh athletic teams for the 14th Inter-State Junior athletic championships Cuttack; January 9 to 12 will be conducted by the Amateur Athletic Association, Chandigarh on December 26 at 10 a.m. at the Sector 7 Sports Complex.

According to the Flying Sikh8217; Milkha Singh, president of the association, trials will be held in the age groups of under-20, u-18, u-16 and u-14 boys and girls. The selected will undergo a coaching camp. Entries close with Ravinder Chaudhary, DAV College, Sector 10 or Iqbal Singh at Sector 7 Sports Complex before December 25.
