VADODARA, May 6: The Directorate of Adult Education is organising a National Essay competition on Literacy and Adult Education. The competition aims to stimulate and encourage creative contributions from students, teachers, writers among others, in support of literacy programmes in the country.

The topic for students at the secondary and senior secondary levels is Literacy and My Neighbourhood8217; and for those at the college and University levels is Literacy as a Human Right8217;. The essays have to be written in about 3,000 words.

Teachers at primary, middle and secondary levels will be required to send in 5,000 words on Bridging the Gap Between Formal and Non-formal Education8217;. The competition is also open to professionals, journalists, writers, educationists and others, who are expected to write 5,000 words on Lifelong Learning for a Literate India 8212; Our Future Perspective8217;.
