APRIL 4: Calcutta Customs sailed into the second round of the 105th Beighton Cup hockey tournament humbling Entally AC 3-1 at the East Bengal ground, here on Tuesday. For the winners, AP Thappa drew the first blood with a rasping hit following a combined move in the sixth minute of the match .
After lemon break, Mohammad Imran Khan restored parity for Entally in the 46th minute, with a field strike.
However, Entally8217;s joy was shortlived as Customs scored twice within 11 minutes to settle the issue.
After Sailesh Yadav converted a penalty corner in the 56th minute, Thappa again stole the limeligt by scoring his second goal a minute later.
In the day8217;s other match, SAI Eastern Centre blanked CESC 3-0 at the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club ground.
The fast-paced encounter saw both sides launching a number of raids but the young SAI players showed grater zeal and converted the chances which came their way to seal the fate of their opponents.
The winners opened their account a minute from half-time through Atal Tirke, who struck again in the 58th minute.

Manoj Kujur made the socreline 3-0 two minutes later by converting a penalty corner.
