CHENNAI, April 27: Customs documents were not filed at the Chennai Customs on April 26 owing to a strike by members of the Chennai Customs House Agents8217; Staff Association. They were protesting the issue of a public notice by the Customs Commissioner Sea and Port that ordered process of import and export documents to be dealt with by several cells under different heads of departments. The members point out that this would render over 6,000 licensed clearing clerks jobless as previously, the documents were cleared by an alotted group.
