Call it a freak accident or, as some are calling it, an attempt to attract attention towards the World Cup trophy on its Kolkata leg visit, the coveted prize went through an embarrassment this morning at a display function in the city. The World Cup trophy was flown in here from New Delhi in the wee hours today for two separate display functions. Just as the organisers of the event were holding the trophy aloft in the first of the programmes at a city joint, what appeared to be a golden ring attached to the lower portion of the Cup came off and was seen dangling from the trophy.
