Germany wingback Philipp Lahm has made the effort to participate in team chemistry building by flying to the initial pre-World Cup camp in Sardinia. 8220;The operation went well and I had a positive attitude from the start,8221; stated the Bayern Munich defender, who should be ready when Geneva camp convenes. 8220;The good thing is that I can start jogging again on Saturday, so there won8217;t be any problems with the fitness,8221; said Lahm. 8220;It8217;s important to be with the team.8221;The 22-year-old expects to be fit enough to travel, however, and will spend one night on the Italian island before flying off with his team mates to their second pre-World Cup camp in Geneva from May 21 to 30.

Fifa to battle illegal betting

The FIFA task force recently decided to begin the battle against illegal betting. One of the first measures concerns the players and officials of the teams qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. Each of these players and officials is compelled to sign a declaration, vowing that they will not participate in any gambling related to the tournament.
