
Woman held for assault
Shrusti Gupta’s mother, who allegedly assaulted her daughter’s classmate 9-year-old Ashutosh Gupta with a sharp edged weapon outside St. Mary’s School on April 17, was arrested by the Makarpura police on Wednesday. She was granted bail by the court. The provocation for assault was a fight between the two students over damaging notebooks of one by the other and vice-versa.
Tout arrested
Tulsibhai, a 60-year-old tout, was caught trying to book railway tickets illegally from Ahmedabad. Speaking to Express Newsline, Divisional Commercial manager (Ticket Checking) Pradeep Kumar said, “This tout had several requisition forms and had demanded bookings for which he was not authorised as they were under several names, from which it was evident they were not real names”. Kumar added that Tulsibhai had been imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 by the Judicial Magistrate. The raid was conducted by Kumar and Railway Protection Force Inspector V D Dubey.
Vehicles theft
Three vehicles were reported to have been stolen by unidentified persons from different places in the city on Tuesday. According to police, a Kinetic Honda scooter (GJ-6-KK4177) worth Rs. 30,000 was lifted from M G Road in Mandvi area, an Armada jeep (GJ-17-C2975) worth Rs. 3.5 lakh from outside Nizampura Guest House and a Bajaj Super(GJ-6-2823) worth Rs. 8,000 in Dashrath village under Chhani police station.
