Warden beats up student
An MCom (final year) student on Sunday sustained minor bruises in a scuffle with the warden of N V Hall Boys’ Hostel of M.S.University over food. Sayajigunj police said a minor altercation between student Ajay Shah and warden K V R Mirthy around 11 am over quality of food and its prices. Student leaders Hetal Shah and Prashant Patel alleged that of late Mirthy had been indulging in highhandedness and when it was objected to by Ajay, he was beaten up by him and a clerk. Mirthy was not available for comment.

Mishap
A tanker carrying solvent turned turtle on Dabhoi-Tilakwada road near here, on Sunday afternoon, according to the district police control room. No one was seriously injured.

Suicide bid
Raju Natwar Rohit, a resident of Kishanwadi area under the Panigate police station, made an unsuccessful bid to end life by consuming chemicals on Saturday night, according to the police. The police said that Rohit had been disgusted with life as he had been jobless for a long time which forced him to take the extreme step. He is recuperating at the SSG hospital.

Goods stolen
Prakash Dhanji Patel, a resident of Sampatrao Colony,near Jetalpur Road, has complained that goods worth Rs 600 were allegedly stolen from his Maruti car (GJ-6-AA-8156) parked near Jubileebaug circle on Saturday. He told the police that he had locked the front door of his car but thieves opened it by using duplicate keys and stole the goods.

Girl missing
A 21-year-old girl, Sejal Shashikant Shankar Vyas, a resident of C-25, Sahyog Society on Gorva refinery road,is reported to be missing since Saturday afternoon. The police said that the girl had gone to Gurudev Hotel in Dandia Bazar for work at 3.50 p.m. but never returned after that. Wheatish complexioned and five feet and one inch tall Sejal was wearing a blue Punjabi suit when seen last on Saturday.

Robbed
SURAT : Four unidentified people intercepted a truck (WB 23 3488) near Vaanjh village on the outskirts of the city on Sunday and escaped with Rs 20,000 after injuring three occupants of the truck, according to a complaint registered in the Sachin police station by truck driver Dukhansingh Rajput. Rajput alleged that their truck was intercepted by four people, aged between 25 and 30, travelling in a red Maruti van. The accused beat up the truck occupants and escaped with the booty. A case under section 394 of the IPC has been registered, the police said, adding no arrests have been made so far.
