
Tragic mishap
A rickshaw-driver died tragically when the windshield of his vehicle broke and pierced his neck after the auto-rickshaw was hit by a Matador at Bhestan on Sunday morning. A case registered in the Pandesara police station said that Krishna Trimbak, driver of an auto-rickshaw GJ 5 U 5571 died before he could be provided medication. The Matador, driven by Rajeshwar Arjun Vandan, was reportedly trying to overtake the rickshaw when it rammed into the smaller vehicle, breaking the windshield. The three-wheeler passengers escaped unhurt. Vandan surrendered before the Pandesara police, who have booked him under sections of the MVA and the IPC.
Found dead
Rambahadur Bilbahadur Gurkha 45, a night watchman of the Parsi Agiyari in the Shahpore area of the city, was found dead in a well beside the agiyari on Sunday morning. Local residents noticed the body and informed the police. The cause of death has not been established as yet. The Chowk Bazaar police have registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Burns death
A 21-year-old married woman, who was being treated at the New Civil Hospital for burns sustained on September 8, died early on Sunday morning, the Katargam police said. The woman said in her dying declaration that she had been cooking on a stove, when it exploded. The police have registered a case and are investigating further.
Assaulted
Mohammed Sajjid alias Sajid Ghulam Kothari, a bootlegger and resident of Jamrug Galli, Nanpura, complained to the police on Sunday that one Bhadresh Mahendra of Bara Hazari Mohalla of Nanpura and two others had assaulted him and threatened to kill him opposite Madan Garage in the area. The Athwa Lines police said Sajid had told the police about Bhadresh, also a bootlegger, triggering the attack. A case of injury and threatening has been registered, but no arrests had been made until evening.
