Self-immolation
Thirty-year-old Babu Walji, a resident of Umarwadi area of Salabatpura, committed suicide by setting himself on fire on Tuesday night. According to the police, he was rushed to the Ashaktashram hospital, but succumbed to burn injuries at 8 am on Wednesday. Although the reason behind the suicide had not been ascertained, a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered in the Salabatpura police station.

Two nabbed
The Udhna police arrested two youths on Wednesday from the Udhna area of the city for their involvement in an armed loot on Tuesday night. Rajesh Jagannath Thakur 24 and Kalpesh alias Zina Ramdas were arrested by the police after autorickshaw driver Nawabkhan Pathan, a resident of Mastanaqngar slum, told the police in a complaint on Tuesday night that he was carrying the accused as passengers between Udhan and Salabatpura when they threatened him with sharp-edged weapons and escaped with cash of Rs 2350. A case has been registered against the two, who will be produced before a magistrate tomorrow.
