14-yr-old ends life
One Sheetal, 14-year old daughter of Valji Patel, residing at Krishnanagar Society at Punagaam in Kapodara area of the city, committed suicide by consuming an insecticide, the police said on Thursday. Sheetal consumed insecticide tablets at around 10 am on Wednesday and was rushed to the Mahavir hospital, where she died during treatment on Thursday morning, the police added. According to the police, a few guests had arrived at their house and Sheetal was not allowed to attend sewing classes. Angered over the issue, she committed suicide, the police said. A case has been registered in the police station and Kapodara PSI B P Patel is investigating the case.

Burns death
One Hemakshiben Dipakkumar Rana, a housewife residing at Pushpanagar Society in Udhna, died in the Maskati hospital on Thursday morning due to severe burn injuries, the police said. The police, quoting the dying declaration of the victim, said that she was roasting papad on a kerosene stove on Wednesday evening when it exploded, causing her severe burns. She was shifted to the Maskati hospital where she was declared dead on Thursday morning. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the police station.

Attempted theft
Two miscreants who tried to steal a battery from a car parked in the Rander area of the city, managed to escape from the spot leaving behind the autorickshaw in which they arrived during the early hours of Thursday, the police said. One Natwar Patel, the owner of the Maruti car GJ 5 Y 9821 and residing at Gitanagar Society, told the Rander police that on Thursday two unidentified persons, who came in an autorickshaw GJ 11 T 706, tried to steal his car battery. But they escaped after he raised an alarm. The police have seized the rickshaw and are trying to trace the culprits with the help of the RTO.
