7 challaned for driving under liquor influence
The Chandigarh traffic police have challaned seven persons for driving under the influence of liquor. Nearly 19 persons were put through the test on alcometer in a drive carried last night near the roundabout of sectors 44, 45, 33 and 34. The police said the drive will continue in the next few days.

Rs 3,600 stolen from bus stop
Hardeep Kumar, resident of Sector 19, Chandigarh, reported to the police that his purse containing Rs 3,600, a driving licence and other documents were stolen from a bus stop in Manimajra. The police have registered a case.

Five arrested
The city police have arrested Raj Bindra, of SAS Nagar, for impersonation. Raj Bindra had allegedly appeared in an examination in place of Gurmit Singh. In another incident four persons were arrested after they allegedly assaulted a Manimajra resident, Davinder Kumar. Those arrested are Ram Singh, Dayal Kaur, Satinder Kaur and Goldy under sections 323, 452, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Maruti car stolen
Satnam Singh, of SAS Nagar, reported that his Maruti car was stolen from ISBT parking, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The police ahve registered case.
