Woman kills self by slashing wrist
A 25-year-old ailing woman ended her life by slashing her wrist with a blade at the PGI in Chandigarh on Thursday. Reportedly, she committed suicide out of frustration caused by her prolonged illness. According to the police, the woman was admitted to the PGI in the last week of September with the case of kidney rejection. She had got her kidney transplanted from Amritsar about three years ago. She was married and had no children. The police said she left a suicide note which said nobody was to blame for her death.

30-year-old kills self
A man, in his mid-30s, reportedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Chandigarh on Thursday. According to the police, the man, Devinder, apparently consumed a pesticide at his residence at Palsora Colony. He reportedly told his wife that he was going upstairs but when he came down, he started vomiting. He was taken to a Phase VI hospital in S.A.S. Nagar. He was referred to the PGI where he died. Sources added that Devinder had taken huge loans and was not in a position to repay them. Moreover, he had been handicapped since he met with an accident about a month ago. These could be his reasons for committing suicide.

Dowry case lodged
A complaint of harassment regarding dowry was lodged with the Manimajra police today. Harsmohan Chadha alleged that his daughter is being harassed by his Indore-based son-in-law Rohit Sondhi and his family members for more dowry. The police have registered a case.

2 held with liquor
The police have arrested Labh Singh of Maloya village and recovered 47 pouches of country liquor from his possession. In another case, Dharam Pal of Colony Number 4 was held with seven bottles of Winner Special whisky. Two separate cases under the excise Act have been registered.
